ABOUT THE FARM:
Blue Heron Community Farm is an 18-acre farm located in Reedsville, Wisconsin, just north of the Collins Marsh Wildlife Area in Manitowoc County.
Collins Marsh supports a wide diversity of wetland wildlife, including the Great Blue Heron.
We named our farm after the Great Blue Heron to honor the natural systems & species that depend on the land we steward. We consider the ecosystem of our farm in everything that we do, and how our farming practices impact the environment we share.
WHAT SUSTAINABLE FARMING MEANS TO US:
Producing food without the use of synthetic fertilizers or pesticides.
Creating a direct relationship with our customers in order to build the local economy and reduce transportation miles.
Improving our environment and building our soils through the use of cover crops, crop rotations and appropriate tillage.
Focusing on working with natural systems, promoting diversity and maintaining the beauty of a cultivated landscape.
